Through its membership of British Cycling, the SRAMCC has £10m Liability Insurance related to club activities, committee members and other officials of the club, members acting on the instructions of the committee, and certain non-member participation. Details of the clubs’ insurance policy can be found here on the British Cycling website. Please note that Individual Club Members are specifically excluded from the Club’s own British Cycling insurance policy, which covers club officials whist carrying out their duties. Participation in club rides and other events is at your own risk and you are strongly advised to obtain Liability Insurance cover. British Cycling has confirmed that club runs are a “ride of individuals” who are each responsible for their own actions and for obeying the law. Being on a ride with the SRAMCC does not remove your individual responsibility and liability. Likewise offering to lead a ride does not make you responsible for…

No one wants to have an accident and therefore the SRAMCC have carried out General Risk Assessments for our club’s social rides. The assessments highlight potential dangers relating to participation in “club runs” but are subject to a Dynamic Assessment on the day depending on such factors as the abilities and numbers of the riders participating, the prevailing weather conditions and any known issues or changes to the planned routes and destinations. These will be announced at the pre-ride briefing before the rides depart. There may be additional instructions and advice given by the ride leaders and other riders during the ride itself. Hidden away in the Quantocks the downhill tracks at Triscombe are some of my personal favourites. There’s something like 25 – 30 tracks of Red/Black grade which ride really well in all weather conditions plus everything is accessible from a short fireroad which can be pushed or pedalled up in less than 10 minutes. What more could you possibly want! You’ll need to be a confident rider for this trip, most of the big features are totally avoidable however you should be able to ride drops of 1 – 2 feet as a minimum skill level. Don’t forget to let us know if you can make it on our Facebook events page.

The long summer ride will be close to the longest day again… Saturday 17th June. A similar route to before, although slightly modified – and we’ve removed all the shotguns from climbers to prevent any repeat of last year 😉 Cost is £25 ( for 3 meals ) and if anyone would like to raise a little money for charity then Andy is working with the local spinal injuries trust to raise a little money for some hand bikes…. ssit.org.uk I’ll add a few more details on here for those interested in coming along for what has been a great ride for the last 3 years 🙂

SRAMcc has a growing number of members who race and dedicate their time to representing the club! From local regional races to national ones we’re earning points all year round. Keep your eye out on this page for results, write-ups, reports and standings. Below is the Southern Regional Rankings, correct as of 21st August. The club is flying in 5th!
