SRAMCC and the COVID Lockdown
(Updated 25th May 2021)
Government regulations allowed for club rides to restart in April 2021 after the lockdown. When planning these COVID compliant rides the club follows detailed guidance provided British Cycling, the Sport’s national governing body.
On May 17th there was a change in the rules which made little difference to how we managed rides, but relaxed the requirements on travel and socialising before and after each event.
Managing club rides to be COVID compliant is a complex process and things will be different from before lockdown,
- Please look out for SRAMcc Facebook announcements and read them carefully.
- British Cycling advice for cycling activities in the current COVID stage can be found on the SRAMcc and COVID webpage.
SRAMcc aims to be a friendly cycling club, aimed at all abilities and genders. We currently have over 130 members involved in multiple cycling disciplines. The key is that everyone just enjoys riding their bikes. The club registered with British Cycling and is managed by a committee whose primary aim is to continue to maintain a friendly club for all.
As a club we make sure all members get something from each ride we put on, the club is open to all abilities. Rides are organised and published on our Facebook page (which can be accessed once you join the club). You can see some of our past rides on our Strava page.
We have a strong road section to our club that meet every Thursday at 6.30pm at the Five Rivers Leisure Centre in Salisbury. If you love getting out on your bike and want a social evening too, then come along and see how you find it! We aim to cater for all abilities and make sure everybody has a great evening out. Just contact us if you are interested or have any questions.
On Saturdays we have a fast ride, again leaving from Five Rivers. On Sundays we have a social ride with a coffee and cake stop somewhere on route.
Salisbury Road and Mountain CC has an active mountain biking section. We have faster rides on Monday evenings for more experienced riders, with less technical routes on Tuesdays suitable for all skill levels. Rides leave at 7pm from the Five Rivers Leisure Centre in Salisbury. Come along for a great evening with great company. We cover local routes and are open for all abilities.
Rules of club rides
On either road or MTB rides we must at all times follow the highway code when applicable. Please show respect to other road users and the general public, as a club we wish to promote a positive attitude.
Always make new members welcome and offer advice and encourage no matter of level of ability.
Below is a list of items we advise you to carry with you when out riding, either as a club or by yourself.
- Spare Inner Tube
- Pump/Gas Inflator
- Tyre Levers
- Multi -Tool
- Spare Change
- Mobile Phone
- At least 1 water bottle
As a club we want to make sure everyone is having fun while out riding but let’s also make sure we are safe and able to deal with on the move bike repairs.
