Bike Friendly Cafes

Every cyclist loves a coffee and cake stop, so use this page to spread the word about your favourite refuelling  venue. Contact Simon Dawson (FB messenger or email SRAMCC website editor ) if you want to add a recommendation. Photos are also welcome.

If you can, please say why you like it, and add helpful information such as where do you store bikes, or if they can easily cope with larger groups (or not).

The Kitchen Cafe

Within Cedar Nursery, Sandy Lane, Braishfield, Romsey, SO51 0PD

Best cafe in the area, serving good quality food, particularly the all-day breakfasts (vegetarian options available).  Great coffee and cakes too.  Indoor seating only (approx. 12 tables) with a wood burner to keep you warm on a winter stop.  Can get busy at weekends and during school holidays so not suitable for organised group rides as you may have to wait for tables.  Good mid-week option for small groups.  A small number of bikes can be stored inside the nursery just in front of the cafe entrance (use side entrance towards the rear of the car park).

Poppies Cafe

Choice Plants Garden Centre Cafe, Stockbridge Road, Timsbury, Romsey, SO51 0NB

At the end of the Mottisfont-Timsbury cycleway. Bikes can be stored inside the garden centre.  Large cafe with indoor and covered outdoor seating serving hot and cold meals.  Cafetiere coffee and good selection of cakes.

Kimbridge Barn

Kimbridge, Romsey, SO51 0LE

More up-market than your usual cycling cafe stop in a lovely setting next to the River Test.  Indoor and outdoor seating (back courtyard and out front).  Extensive menu with good coffee and cakes available.  Bike racks out front.

The Potting Shed Cafe

Hyde, Fordingbridge SP6 2QB

Large cafe on the edge of the New Forest with a good number of indoor and outdoor tables.  Extensive menu of hot and cold meals, good coffee and cakes.  Bikes can be stored against the cafe garden fence.

Hockey’s Farm Shop & Cafe

South Gorley, Fordingbridge, SP6 2PW

Another great option on the edge of the New Forest between Fordingbridge and Ringwood.  Serving breakfasts, light lunches, coffee and cakes.  Plenty of indoor tables and a small number of tables outside.  Bikes can be stored in the bike rack area next to the farm shop and aviary.

145 Tuckton Road, Tuckton, Christchurch, BH6 3JZ

A small Deli and Cafe in the parade of shops at Tuckton, west of Christchurch. Very tasty Pizza, Pasta and Rice dishes to refuel during a trip to the coast. The Pork and Beef Arancini are well worth the distance. (Smallish groups only – bikes can be left in view on the wide pavement outside).

Minstead Community Shop

The Trusty Servant, Church Close, Minstead, Lyndhurst, SO43 7FY

Winter opening hours: 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday, 10am to 3.30pm Saturday & Sunday.

At the heart of the pretty village of Minstead is this friendly community venture serving take-out coffee and cakes (plus other snacks).  Whilst there’s no outdoor seating there is a paved area out front with a low wall to sit on whilst enjoying your hot beverage and there’s plenty of room on the adjacent village green (complete with stocks).  Perfect for a short break whilst out in the Forest.

Semley Village Stores,

Semley, near. Shaftesbury, SP7 9AU

Serves take-out coffee, cakes and savouries with a few tables out front.
