SRAMcc has developed a First Aid Kit for club riders to use, which is specifically designed for typical cycling injuries.
Most First Aid Kits on the market are designed for offices and factories, or they are small outdoor kits which may work for the smaller injuries encountered on low-risk outdoor activities.
Sadly sports cycling does have a risk of more serious injuries if an accident occurs, such as road rash to a large area of skin, or broken bones. So the kit has been put together to help with these specific injury risks.
There is no obligation on club members (either ride leaders or other members) to carry a kit, but we know that many club members would like to do so, and this provides an easy way for those members to obtain a suitable kit.
The kit fits inside a Bidon container to fit easily on the bike frame, and it contains the following items
- Nitrile, non-sterile protective gloves
- Resuscitation Face mask
- Large and Small Wound Dressing packs
- Large Adhesive Wound Dressings
- Triangular Bandage
- Crepe Bandage
- Wound Closure Strips
- Reflective Foil Blanket (Space Blanket)
- Micropore Tape
- Assorted Small Plasters
The following video shows you exactly what is inside the kit, and how each item can be used.
