SRAMcc FIRST AID KIT

SRAMcc has developed a First Aid Kit for club riders to use, which is specifically designed for typical cycling injuries.

Most First Aid Kits on the market are designed for offices and factories, or they are small outdoor kits which may work for the smaller injuries encountered on low-risk outdoor activities.

Sadly sports cycling does have a risk of more serious injuries if an accident occurs, such as road rash to a large area of skin, heavier bleeding, or broken bones. So the kit has been put together to help with these specific injury risks.

There is no obligation on club members (either ride leaders or other members) to carry a kit, but we know that many club members would like to do so, and this provides an easy way for those members to obtain a suitable kit.

The kit is stored within a Bidon container to be carried easily on a bike frame, and it contains the following items:

Top section (for immediate access)

  • Nitrile, non-sterile protective gloves
  • Resuscitation Face mask
  • Large Wound Dressing pack

Lower section

  • Additional large and small wound dressings
  • Assorted sizes of Adhesive Wound Dressings
  • Triangular Bandage
  • Crepe Bandage
  • Wound Closure Strips
  • Reflective Foil Blanket (Space Blanket)
  • Micropore Tape
  • Assorted Small Plasters

The following video shows you exactly what is inside the kit, and how each item can be used.

Look on the club website for details of how to obtain the First Aid Kit, or contact Simon Dawson through the Facebook Group, or on website@sramcc.com

Current club policy (Oct 2021) is that we will offer a kit free to ride leaders or to anybody organising events for the club. Other club members can purchase a kit for the cost price of £15.00.
