The clocks are about to go back, but there’s plenty to keep us busy. Here are the highlights from the October newsletter.
Ride updates
Our Tuesday off-road, Thursday road and Saturday rides continue through the winter. Check Spond and Facebook each week for routes. We know there isn’t a lighter option for the Saturday ride at the moment. If a ride’s pace or terrain doesn’t suit you, please tell us with a comment on the event post or a word with anyone on the committee. Lights are now essential, not optional, for any ride that might run into dusk, especially after the clocks go back on 25 October.
Spond: the trial is going well
A good number of members have now signed up to Spond for organising the Saturday ride. For now we’re advertising Saturday rides on both Spond and Facebook. Once we’re confident it’s working fully and member feedback is positive, we’ll move all ride organisation and club announcements to Spond. It’s free from the App Store or Google Play. Just search “Spond”.
Supermarine CX wraps up
Andy Smith Events’ Supermarine CX series finished after five Thursday-night rounds under the floodlights at South Marston. Katie West took 3rd place overall in the league. Mark Harvey, Dave Wrey, Dave West, Nigel Eades and Tony Anderson also raced for SRAM CC. Dave Wrey won the Gary Deacon Trophy for rider progress and improvement over the series.
Andover Supercross: volunteers needed
The Supercross is on Sunday 15 November. If you’ve already volunteered, please put the dates in your calendar. If you haven’t yet and fancy getting involved, contact Tony Anderson or Dave West, or email chair@sramcc.com.
Winter Audax Series kicks off
Event 1 to the New Forest left Five Rivers on 17 October. Next up is the Rye Bakery Café, Frome, on 7 November. Full schedule and Strava routes.
Zwift racing this winter?
We’re gauging interest in a SRAM CC team for the WTRL Zwift Racing League. Message Mike Boardman or email chair@sramcc.com.
